What hardware do you recommend as the basics for recording music in your computer?
I play the keyboards and want to lay tracks to songs I wrote. Suppose I have a regular desktop computer. I want to get a good keyboard/drum machine/sequencer/microphone setup that is affordable. No midi, but actual sounds generated by keyboard. Which keyboard makes good sounds that are acceptable for demos. Is there a keyboard that does all of the above as far as sequencing? Thanks.

one way to do that is connect your piano(when you find one) and hook it up to some speakers. then get a sensitive microphone and set it maybe 3 feet or so from the speaker as you play. you’ll probably need help and it’ll sound kind of hissy and scratch, that’s one way. or settle for midi and plug a wire from your piano to the recording plug thingy in the back and sometimes in the front of the computer.then get a program like sony acid (not XMC does’nt work with midi) and record.

ive got a delta audiophile 192 pci card that works great.
you can also get a 1/4″ to mini canverter and plug it into the microphone jack on your computer.
for the keyboard, KORGs are optimal, but you can get a good roland or alesis to sound nice too. i use a roland rd-500 (old school) and it comes out pretty nicely when i record, and has some good drum patches
